Custom Framing and Conservation Framing.

The term conservation refers to the materials and methods we use to frame any item of sentimental or monetary value to you.

We work to the following code:

  • No permanent changes are made to your artwork, i.e. no trimming, folding or tapes that do not conform to conservation standards, are used.
  • The method of mounting used, should be completely reversible in the future, through the use of non-destructive procedures and materials.
  • All items in contact with the artwork, i.e. mount board and backing material, will be of conservation "acid-free" grade,
  • Glazing should not, at any time, come into contact with the artwork. An air gap is important, so spacers or mount board is used to hold them apart.
  • The frame should provide protection from hazards such as insects, dirt, humidity etc.

We do recommend that UV filtered glass is used to protect your artwork from fading.

The term custom or bespoke framing means that the frame we construct is according to your needs, so that you do not have to adapt your artwork, cross stitch, photographs etc. to the frame.
